Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a small, sleepy town. The West Island has a lot of diverse communities. For those who haven't heard of it often mistake it for an island that is west-facing. The West Island is frequently referred to as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was not long. Brugel was raised in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. Her first ambition was to be a dancer. Then, a growth spurt caused her to outgrow her dance partners she was able to have. The Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. As I got bigger than my male dancers, I decided to quit. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting, and in the case of Brugel, it was the result of a recommendation by her drama teacher. Her teacher suggested she audition for the role of Anne in their annual school production. She was able to audition and be cast as Anne of Green Gables. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Over the last 20 years, Brugel's work been featured on both the large and small screen. The most notable was her attention when she won her character of Rita in the acclaimed television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel played the role of Rita in the Handmaid's Tale which was produced over the course of ten years.
